Please excuse the quality of this post.
Mary Jordan is my niece. She is 4 years old. She has a twin brother and an older brother. She is beautiful and bright and funny and fun.
Yesterday, she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. There was bleeding on her brain. The doctors told her mother to be prepared for her not to survive.
She was transferred to Duke Medical, probably the best pediatric neurological facility in the country if not the world. They have relieved the pressure and diagnosed the underlying problem as a malformation of the artery/vein structure in her brain.
She will be having surgery Monday or Tuesday. The doctors are managing down expectations. She will probably be in the hospital for several weeks in therapy. No one knows how much of her abilities will be there when she comes out of this ordeal.
What is most important is that she will come out of this. The doctors are no longer talking of her not surviving.
Please pray for her.
[Update 7/14] Things are looking up. Mary Jordan has been talking and responding and moving her fingers and toes.
Surgery is tomorrow, and surgery is never risk free. Please keep the prayers coming.
[Update 7/15] Mary Jordan is through surgery and things are looking very good. Her parents have set up a web page at http://www.carepages.com/ServeCarePage?cpn=MaryJordanTucker&ipc=pinvit

I'm very happy to hear that Mary Jordan's condition was looking good as 7/15. I will certainly pray for a full recovery, as well as for peace and comfort for her family.
Mike,
Thank you very, very much for the comment and prayers. She's actually home now, which is unprecedented for someone with her condition. Truly amazing.
Scott
